Mehrangarh Fort

Reaching Mehrangarh Fort of Jodhpur is accessible from anywhere, as the city of Jodhpur has great connectivity. 

• By Bus:- You can find several bus services, private or government, AC or non-AC, to Jodhpur Bus Stand or Raika Bagh Bus Stand, from major cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Udaipur, etc. The Mehrangarh Fort is around 3-5 km from the bus stand, so you can hire a taxi or an auto rickshaw to reach the fort. 

• By Taxi:- Outstation taxis are readily available from any major city, such as Delhi, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, etc., to reach Mehrangarh Fort. It is an expensive option, but the convenient one. 

• By Train:-You will find numerous trains from Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, etc., to Jodhpur Junction. The Mehrangarh Fort is about 2-3 km from the Jodhpur Junction, so you can take an auto rickshaw to reach the fort. 

• By Flight:- There is no international airport in Jodhpur, but it has a domestic one. So, you can connect to Jodhpur with domestic flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, etc. And the airport is around 6–7 km from Mehrangarh Fort.

The duration from October to March, the winter or cooler months in India, is the best time to visit Fort Mehrangarh Jodhpur. The weather in Rajasthan during this period is pleasant and perfect for exploring the fort. It is better to explore the fort in early mornings to avoid crowds and afternoon heat. During this time, the skies are generally clear, which provides you with stunning views of the Blue City, where you can click amazing pictures. 

Avoid visiting the Mehrangarh Fort in the summer months from April to June. This duration can be extremely hot with scorching weather, making it difficult for you to enjoy the fort. You can also enjoy the fort during the monsoon season from July to September. The occasional rains and lush green surroundings will make it more beautiful. But remember, rain may make some areas of the floor slippery and risky. 

Here are some tips to keep in mind while visiting the Mehrangarh Fort.

• You must wear comfortable shoes as the fort has a lot of walking trails and climbing stairs. 

• Doesn’t matter in which season you are visiting, keeping yourself hydrated and protected from the sun is necessary. 

• Hire a guide to deeply learn about the culture, history, and royalty of the fort. 

• It is better to visit the fort in early mornings and late afternoons for cooler and pleasant weather. 

• Respect the religious site, the Chamunda Mata Temple. 

• Usually, photography is allowed, but don’t click pictures of the restricted area. 

• You must enjoy the cultural performances that took place in the evenings.
